Bal-A-Vis-X
The Bal-A-Vis-X website states the following about this program: “Balance Auditory Vision Exercises address visual tracking deficiencies and auditory imprecision, impulsivity, balance and anxiety issues. By virtue of teachable techniques (not athleticism), Bal-A-Vis-X enables body systems to experience the flow of a pendulum, thereby affording brain systems calm and sustained focus. Individual exercises promote self-challenge. Partner and group exercises demand cooperation and foster peer teaching.”
Caregiver Collaboration
One of our amazing moms here at Kids Abilities started a caregiver support group for moms in Southside Indy. They meet monthly to share ideas, give resources, and talk through the emotions of having a child with special needs. Your child does not need to attend KA for services to join this group. If you are interested in learning more, click the link to their Facebook group above.

The Charge Syndrome Foundation has resources for outreach and support programs, research and information, and strives to promote awareness and networking opportunities.
CLASI
Collaborative for Leadership in Ayres Sensory Integration (CLASI) provides innovative and customized partnership, scholarship, and mentorship opportunities for mastering, applying and advancing knowledge in Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI) theory and practice to support and develop leaders, promote knowledge development, disseminate evidence-based information, and facilitate learning and skills.
Greenwood Public Library
The Kids Department of the Greenwood Public Library has a Sensory Kit collection that includes sensory equipment available to be checked out with any valid GPL library card. This collection is a great way for families, teachers, and therapists to try out sensory equipment before buying, for short-term usage, or to access otherwise unaffordable items.The Sensory Kit collection includes items such as weighted vests, handwriting tools, noise cancelling headphones, braille and ASL learning tools, and more.
Imagination Library of Johnson County
Children under the age of 5 are eligible to register for a free book each month to be sent to their home! Complete the registration online to start receiving some great books. Reading 1 book each night with your child helps build vocabulary, social/emotional skills and is a great way to bond with your child. It's so important to start building literacy skills early on. Eight to ten weeks after your registration form has been received, books will begin arriving at your home!
OT Toolbox
The OT Toolbox is an online resource for parents, teachers, and occupational therapists geared toward promoting healthy growth and development in children. It is filled with activities and ideas for the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, vision, handwriting, sensory play, and executive functioning skills.
Star Institute
The STAR Institute for Sensory Processing is the leader in treatment of sensory processing deficits. Their goal is to enable families to take control of their sensory needs to maximize independence and interaction with the environment. This is the parent and professional resource page, which is filled with great information for understanding and dealing with sensory processing difficulties.
SupportNow Grants
SupportNow is a website that allows parents and caregivers to search and apply for grants that may benefit their child. You are able to search for very specific needs or diagnoses to see what grants are available. Browse the largest, up-to-date collection of grants to fund families with financial needs of all sizes.
TalkTools
TalkTools’ purpose is as follows: “TalkTools® was created to provide the best Oral-Placement Therapy (OPT) techniques, training, and tools to clients, therapists and parents. Our therapy techniques add a tactile component to feeding and speech therapy, enabling clients to ‘feel’ the movements necessary for the development of speech clarity.” Our speech & feeding therapists are OPT trained and utilize this training within their treatment sessions often.
Tobii Dynavox and ForbesAAC
Tobii Dynavox and ForbesAAC are just two of multiple companies our speech therapists work with that provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) high tech device options that assist with supplementing or substituting any user’s oral speech. Our speech therapists work hard to determine an avenue that will best suit your child’s needs to enhance their communication.
